In interviews during the earlier part of your career, Raine would often get asked about the long term goals for OLP. Occasionally, Raine would reply that his goal was to write "one great song" that would outlive the band and be remembered.

Do you feel OLP has written that song? If so, which is it ...

The backdrop to Big Dumb Rocket and more specifically, If You Believe, were incredible!

You're talking about the NO/YES/DIE backdrop?

Apart from the actual video clips, I think most of them pre-made stock video loops. Ditto for the effects on the LED screens. At times they seemed appropriate but ...

FASHION REPORT SPOILER ALERT

Confirmed - Raine donned his "artiste chapeau" during the SM set and accessorized with a white scarf what was either a black blazer or a leather jacket. He came out for the second set in a v-neck shirt with a leather jacket.

During the Clumsy set on the first night he ...

I don't imagine that we will see a ton of videos from either of the Massey Hall shows - at least complete songs. On the first night I noticed several people being asked to turn off their cameras and on the second night patrons were specifically asked by ushers that they not record the performance ...

Hey, hey - long time, no post.

The last time I saw OLP it was in Brussels, Belgium in 2002. I can't believe its been 7 years!

I heard about the tour and picked up a pair for each night at Massey Hall. I'm in the lower balcony for night 1 and the upper balcony for night 2.

It will be interesting ...

It's not like the writing wasn't on the wall for this thing. From the start it was an idiotic way to grow your fanbase. It's not like OLP are U2.

Anybody know if OLP are headed over to Nettwerk and Terry McBride? That has possibilities if true.

I'm strangely curious to see where they will go with this next effort.

Having followed them quite closely from the apex of Clumsy to the dawn of Gravity (the death of the band heard on the first 4 records), and having suffered through Gravity and the overwrought HIPT, I'm pretty amazed if they're ...

Are OLP finished?

I have to wonder if we'll see OLP record a new album again. Their audiences seem to have dwindled considerably from the days of Clumsy/Gravity. Have they made any on-record comments about their plans?

Does anyone else find it weird that in many of these greatest hits and bonus tracks that Raine manages to work in references to either the sun, stars, or a satellite?

FWIW, I don't think I've ever met an OLP fan who owns a telescope.

FYI - Everyone makes money if OLP tours, and since they have barely had any shows this year, there is no cash flow or income for any of the parties involved.

And Raine and Jer's myspaces relate to personal (non-OLP) projects, which is why you don't see that stuff on ourladypeace.net. In addition ...

I wonder when management will begin to account for the bad faith resulting from OLP.net versus the amount of positive cash coming in.

If the purpose of olp.net was to unite the fans, it would seem it is failing miserably.

Its not as though the band is skittish about putting content online. Both ...

OLP Songs that sound like they're aping other songs...

I was just listening to "Lebo's River" and all I can hear in the verse keyboard part is Everclear's melody from "Wonderful".

This reminded me about "Stealing Babies" and the lift from Collective Soul's "The World I Know".

Can anyone think of others? Or better yet, bands that have aped OLP?

Hopefully they'll remaster or re-record bits and pieces. That's what the Hip did on their recent "Hipepinonymous" collection. Johnny Fay's drums really came through decent sounding, which I thought was a nice touch because the original "Fully Completely" drums and guitars always sounded so late 80s ...

Has anyone else noticed, there is just about NO HYPE about this DVD?

Normally, if they're selling something we at least get something official from the website. There is nothing about a DVD anywhere but on the website's of these stores.

Weird.

From what I read, it sounds like an individual affiliated w/management encouraged the act. Feel free to correct me if you're so moved. It's really beside the point now anyway.

Yeah, it looks like we agree on most points.

I just think DRM and Spoofs are illustrative of the same goal. Sure they are different ways of getting to the core of the issue, but the same goal remains. In either case, you're obstructing the listeners ability to consume the product. Downloading ...
